Peter Lensink is the Chief Operations Officer of Transdev Australia & New Zealand, responsible for bus, ferry, heavy rail and light rail operations, delivering over 271 million passenger trips annually. With more than 25 years of international experience, Peter brings a people-focused, results-driven approach to transport leadership across multimodal networks.
Prior to his current role, Peter was Chief Officer of Transdev New Zealand and Managing Director of Transdev Auckland. Before moving to New Zealand, he served as Operations Director at Abellio (now Transport UK), overseeing significant rail and bus operations across London, East Anglia and County Surrey.
His career has been defined by leading change in complex, unionised environments, improving customer service, safety- and operational performance, leading to improved financial business outcomes while fostering engagement and inclusion within large teams.
Peter serves as a Board Member of the Australasian Railway Association (ARA) and Chair of ARA’s Passenger Operators Executive. He was previously a board member of TrackSAFE New Zealand. A Chartered Member of the Institute of Directors, Peter combines governance experience with operational expertise, building partnerships with government, transport authorities and unions to deliver sustainable, socially beneficial outcomes.
Based in Sydney with his wife and two daughters, Peter is passionate about exploring his surroundings with his family and – as football loving Dutchman – embracing local sport, continually deepening his understanding of rugby, cricket and Aussie rules footie. He is committed to driving innovation, operational excellence, and customer-focused improvements across all Transdev networks, ensuring public transport delivers lasting value for communities.
